Create your Open Source Project

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Just like the favourite open source projects you admire, you too can start your open source project with the aim of solving real-life problems or something that interests you.

In my experience with open source, I realized that so many people find it challenging to start their projects. While there are some theoretical resources out there, you rarely find practical guidance.

In this workshop, I will not only show but also guide you through creating your first open-source project. Here's a quick overview of what will be covered:

  • What an Open Source Project is.
  • How to create a project on GitHub
  • Setting up your repository (Licenses, Readme, Contributing guide, etc.)
  • How to establish branding for your project
  • Best marketing practices for your project
