Jakob Nielson said, “a wonderful interface to the wrong features will fail, so even if you build that thing well, it won’t succeed”. We’ve seen an increase in design awareness and acceptance recently, but many products still fail because they solve problems that nobody cares for.
It has become important now more than ever to focus on understanding the problems we need to address before deciding on specific products and features to build. If we allow ourselves to fall into the trap of focusing on outputs over outcomes, we take a huge risk in building the wrong things.
As designers, it is our responsibility to ensure that we’re solving the right problems and impacting the lives of our customers beyond the digital interfaces we design and build.
This talk will teach you how to:
- Ensure you’re solving the right problems
- Measure your progress and confirm if you are on track or not
- Effectively shift to a mindset that aligns with outcomes over outputs
