The promise of Decentralised Finance is that; every financial service you use today — savings, loans, trading, insurance and more — will be made accessible to anyone in the world with a smartphone and internet connection.

Today, DeFi holds over $95B in crypto assets, according to Statista. The DeFi industry is built on the Blockchain, open-source tools, and communities. It has expanded into several financial markets including Decentralised reserved banks (e.g. MakerDAO), borrow and lend ( e.g. Compound), automated token exchange (e.g. Uniswap), Prediction Markets (e.g. Augur), Synthetic Assets (Synthetix). Most importantly, the code that powers these protocols is open source.

This talk will discuss the high-level architecture of some of these protocols, the tools that are used to build them, how the audience can interact with them and benefit from them, and also their risk exposure. The talk tries to avoid jargon and rather focuses on simplifying the technicalities of the DeFi space as much as possible.
