The metaverse is a space where people are able to communicate and collaborate over the internet, immersed in 3D using a blend of augmented and virtual reality technologies. In today’s world, the “cloud” has become the foundational tool for innovation because of all the cool new technologies enabled by the cloud. The world of Mixed Reality is not left behind and now we have seen companies like Facebook (now Meta), Microsoft and Niantic invest a lot of resources into the future of this technology.

Without the cloud, collaboration on the metaverse would be impossible. In this talk, I would share my experience about working on cloud services that power Mixed Reality and I would highlight the key roles that cloud engineers can play in building an engaging technology like this that unlocks the next level of human computer interaction.
