The open source world is as exciting as it is varied. There are so many ways to get involved in open source and grow your career. This talk will explore some ways that you can do this through my journey. Whether you want to be a software developer, community manager, UX designer, program manager, developer advocate, technical writer - there is no shortage of ways to thrive in the ecosystem.

At F5, I am helping build the open source culture as part of a new Open Source Program Office. What does that mean? We’ll talk about that in this talk. In my previous role at Facebook (Meta Platforms), I saw projects as big as React grow. How did that happen? We can talk about that. I’ve seen developer communities thrive on open source projects, engineers excel through their work in these projects, and students learn real-world skills using these projects. At many turns, I’ve seen the power of open source used to inform and transform careers.

After listening to this talk, your mind will be open to the many ways that open source can help you with your career.
